Upcoming Events

Beaumaris Probus has many Interest Group meetings, outings, functions and visits. The diary is very busy. We wish to minimise “clashes” between activities so that members have maximum choice. The Activities Planner is a working document to assist Interest Group leaders when scheduling an activity. Please note, more activities will be added, others might change. Always check with your Interest group leader.

Firm dates of Club events for the next 90 days appear in our newsletter and below in Upcoming Events

Visit to Beluera House & Garden, plus Lunch at Kirk's Mornington

Tuesday 28th March – Suggest car share

This trip has something for everyone, especially the art, theatre and music lover, historian, and gardener. The state-listed property was home to successive generations of distinguished Australians over 160 years. It is exceptional for its fine Joseph Reed architecture and 12-acre garden and for revealing the life of its last owner. Its 25,000-piece collection reflects the taste of Sir George and Lady Tallis and their composer son, John. Their stewardship of the JC Williamson entertainment empire afforded them the means to create a peaceful place to house their renowned collection.

Beleura dates from 1863. John Tallis spent his life preserving Beleura and left his estate to the people of Victoria for their education and enjoyment. The House remains as it was in his time, including his collection of artworks, books and automobiles. More recently Beleura built further collections – one of fine musical instruments and the other, a treasury of ceramic art by Klytie Pate.

Meet at 9.30am, park in the Visitors Carpark of Mornington Golf Club. We gather in the clubhouse foyer for a bus transfer and after morning tea, we can join either the house or garden guided tour which ends at 12:30. After we shall lunch at ‘Kirk’s on the Esplanade’, Mornington.

Cost of transfer bus, entry, guided tour and morning tea is $35 pp. Lunch to be paid separately. Final numbers need to be in by Tuesday, March 14
