Dear Probians, Partners and Guests,
Getting-to-Docklands_A4-011864750

It is now less than a week to our first social event for 2018. The long range forecast for next Thursday is for a sunny day, 22C max – good conditions for a summer outing.

The ferry terminal at Docklands has recently changed to a location more easily accessible by public transport, please see below.
No.70 or 75 trams to Docklands are scheduled every 5 minutes from outside Flinders Street station, stop 5 on Flinders Street travelling west and the journey time is 13 minutes to stop D3 outside Etihad Stadium.
Southern Cross train riders should take the northern exit and allow 10 minutes to walk to the Harbour Esplanade Ferry terminal.
Please be at the Ferry terminal by 9.15 am at the latest. We have 42 passengers to embark on a group ticket and the check-in procedure is unclear at present.
Cold drinks and snacks are available on board the ferry; however coffee aficionados will have to purchase takeaways locally before they get on board.

Our wine tasting venue is Scotchmans Hill, a leading Bellarine vineyard and winery for over 30 years and is rated amongst James Halliday’s Top 100 Australian Wineries.
The journey from Portarlington to the winery takes less than 15 minutes and our bus will leave the jetty area at about 11.15am.
We have booked and paid in advance for wine tasting. Any bottle purchasers will receive a one-off $5 refund.

Non-tasters will have the option to explore Portarlington village and have morning tea/coffee before being picked up by the bus at 12noon to rejoin the wine-tasters.

Our full complement will then take the very short bus trip to the Jack Rabbit winery main restaurant for lunch, commencing at 12.45pm.
The first course will be shared tasting platters followed by a choice of three mains from the menu. Price includes a glass of Jack Rabbit wine; however any additional drinks will be at member expense.
We will leave Jack Rabbit at 2.45pm to return to Portarlington for the 3.30pm return ferry ride to Docklands, arriving back at 5pm.

I hope all the above makes sense – please contact me by email with any questions.
Here’s to a great day out.

Sincerely,
Ken
