Our 9th Croquet event another great success!

Time flies! We’ve now held our Annual Croquet event NINE times, and, as always, it was a terrific event enjoyed by all. Congratulations Derek Skues for organising the event and the beautiful weather! Thanks too to Bob Wigg and John Green for your help and also to members of the Sandringham Croquet Club for showing us how to play!

This year’s comp was won by Geoff Bransbury and Bob Wigg. it was Geoff’s first time as a player as in other years he has been the organiser for most of the other years!

The food was magnificent as always – BBQ sausages and lamb chops with salads from Kuche of Beaumaris and some mouthwatering desserts.

Paul Crompton's Art Show beats all expectations

Paul’s art was beautifully presented by Michele Laragy at his recent “Final Retrospective” at Brighton Town Hall and as a result, over 95% of his paintings were sold. His historic Ansett Collection of 40 paintings was purchased complete and unseen by the owner of the Ansett Estate, so the paintings are “going home”. Paul is delighted that the set remains complete, and we hope one day it will be on public display.

The art show was a great community project initiated and managed by Geoff Bransbury and Neighbourhood Watch Volunteers. Paul with help from Beaumaris Men’s Shed made the panels, Barry, and Margaret Amond Leon Laragy and Merry Bransbury assisted greatly. Ex-president Rod Hammond arranged some excellent Torbreck wine for the Grand Opening which was attended by some 400 guests.

Paul was a superb artist, and we are all delighted his art has been recognised and appreciated by his community.
